SLOs & Portfolios
Texas Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) & Portfolios
Welcome to our Texas Student Learning Objectives (SLO) and Portfolio resource page. This page is designed to support educators and campus leaders in implementing high-quality SLOs and portfolios as part of the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) and continuous instructional improvement.
As the statewide Texas SLO & Portfolio HUB, ESC Region 1 provides leadership and resources to support districts across the state. In partnership with ESC Region 1, ESC Region 14 offers district training, implementation support, and ongoing guidance throughout the SLO and portfolio processes. This partnership also includes the required collaborative rating assistance for check-ins and artifact reviews to help ensure consistency and fidelity at each stage of implementation.
Student Learning Objectives provide a structured process for setting meaningful academic goals, monitoring student progress, and reflecting on instructional practices. Portfolios offer an authentic way to demonstrate student growth by capturing evidence of learning over time. Together, these tools help ensure that student growth measures are aligned to rigorous standards while supporting equitable and effective instruction.
Throughout this page, you will find guidance, templates, timelines, examples, training materials, and resources to assist you through each stage of the SLO and portfolio process—from planning and goal setting to evidence collection, scoring, and reflection.
Whether you are implementing SLOs for the first time or refining your current practices, these resources are intended to promote consistency, collaboration, and student success.
Required SLO Modules
The SLO modules are designed to provide you with an overview of the Student Learning Objectives process and implementation in a clear, practical, and relevant context. These resources provide a versatile framework for measuring student growth across all disciplines, including core subjects, career and technical education, and the fine arts. When completed, be sure to upload completion certificates to the site if your district plans to implement SLOs into your TIA local designation system.
