When we accomplish something, or see a student or colleague do well, our brain simply checks a box and moves on.  This results in "positive memory files" that are relatively small compared to the negative ones.

 

If, every once in a while, we pick up those positive memories, we just might change their size a little, and in a way that's to our advantage.
