Protective Factors & Developmental Assets

Developmental Assets Framework  - The Search Institute has studied Developmental Assets in the lives of millions of young people across the Untied States and around the world.  Research consistently shows that young people from all backgrounds do better when they have a strong foundation of of these 40 research-based, positive experiences and qualities in their development. 

40 Developmental Assets Checklist - The Search Institute identified the following building blocks that help young people to grow up healthy, caring and responsible.  This checklist is meant for discussion only and is not a scientific instrument. 

40 Developmental Assets by Age  -  The external and internal assets are grouped, explained and listed according to student's age level. 

Jenson Learning: Brain Based Learning   -  This Eric Jenson website, a leading researcher in brain-based, evidence driven teaching strategies, shares free resources to help staff improve the systems on their schools by showing teachers how to better manage the stress factors in their students for a more productive learning environment. 

Devereux Free Resource Library   - The Devereux Center for Resilient Children (DCRC) promotes the healthy social and emotional development of young children, from birth through preschool, by fostering resilience and building the skills needed for success in school and life.  This link leads to their free resource library, full of resilience-building guidance and activities for adults and young learners to do together.
