Paraprofessional Academy

PARAPROFESSIONAL ACADEMY

The Region 14 Education Service Center logo features a stylized '14' and text.

A colorful illustration celebrates Educational Support Professionals, holding hands.

No matter what you call them, paraprofessionals are often the school's unsung heroes.

Paraprofessional educators truly serve more than students. They serve the teachers on the campus as well. They have one of the most challenging jobs.

If you are a paraprofessional, let me commend you. You do so much for so many people.

You are welcome to attend any trainings we offer that apply to your assignment.  Please join us!

Region 14 ESC is PROUD to have successfully trained over 1,800 paraprofessionals in our Region!  This three-day academy offers orientation and training in scientifically-based strategies for prospective paraprofessionals to assist in reading, writing, and math instruction.  Participants take a locally-developed assessment to demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and math, which meets requirements for ensuring that all paraprofessionals are highly qualified.  All participants will be assessed in reading, writing, and math to demonstrate proficiency.  This training is held at Region 14 ESC North (1850 Hwy 351, Abilene).

Please create an account through Pitstop

ONLINE OPTION: If self-paced online training is preferred, we offer Paraeducator Training, which provides 13 modules plus practice tests.  Afterwards, paraprofessionals schedule a time with Rachel Smith to test at ESC 14.  Fee is $200, and an administrator will need to email rsmith@esc14.net with aide's name, email, and campus, which will start the process (not in PitStop).
